FDA Approves Wireless Muscle Stimulator
The FDA recently approved the RT50 wireless muscle stimulator which will enhance the RT300. The RT300 is a functional electrical stimulation (FES) motorized ergometer system. FES is used to help paralyzed muscles perform some forms of movement again.
What Exactly Does the RT300 Do?
The RT300 helps in the rehabilitation of previously paralyzed muscles. It does this by sending electrical currents to the muscles in the arms and legs and activates them.As a result, the activated muscle is allowed to make some forms of movement through a regular patterned physical activity.
How Does Adding the RT50 Help?
The RT50 will allow the RT300 to stimulate 10 muscle groups at a time in just one sitting. The muscle groups that can be stimulated has been increased to, including the abdominal and back.
How Do I Obtain a RT300?
The RT300 is a prescribed machine and you will have to have a physician asses you before you can obtain on of these devices. However, it is suggested that if you have a pacemaker, unhealed fractures of the lower extremities , or are pregnant, this device is not for you. The benefits of this machine include relaxation of muscle spasms, increased local blood circulation, prevention of disuse atrophy, and maintaining or increasing range of motion.
